I shot and co-produced a feature film in Cuba 3 years ago with called ‘Forbidden Cuba’. It is the first American film to be shot in Cuba since 1959. We left New York as Hurricane Sandy was rolling in and we ending up be able to shoot for 19 days straight in Havana, Vinales, Pinar del Rio, Cienfuegos, Trinidad de Zaza and Matanzas. We traveled to Cuba with our cast and crew of 7 including a second cinematographer and sound mixer from France as well as an actor from Los Angeles.
The film won the Best Producers Award at the Brooklyn Film Festival and rave reviews at the Rhode Island International Film Festival this past summer. At each of these festivals we have been able to have Cuban actors, artists and academics join us in the panel discussion after the screening which allowed the audience to find out more about the filming as well what is happening in Cuba today.
